On the Calm
In seafaring there is little more feared than the calm. You sit on the water, the sail hangs limp, and nothing moves. No storm, no drama — just nothing.
We are used to seeing standstill as a problem. As something that must be overcome. But what if the calm is not the problem, but the answer?
In therapeutic work I encounter again and again people who want to move but cannot. Who know that something must change but do not know what. Who feel stuck.
Sometimes the most important thing you can do is: nothing. Wait. Feel. And trust that the wind will return. It always does.
