What Remains After the Voyage
There are voyages that don't end when you come home. Some only truly begin there. You sit at the breakfast table, the coffee tastes the same as always, but something has shifted. Perhaps it is just a feeling, perhaps an image that won't let go.
Integration does not mean understanding everything. It means giving what shows itself a place. Not immediately, not under pressure, but at the pace the experience itself sets.
In my work I often see people who, after intense experiences, feel they must act immediately, understand immediately, change immediately. But the fog does not clear faster if you run into it. Sometimes all it takes is someone standing beside you, looking with you.
What remains after the voyage? Often more than you think. And it reveals itself when you stop searching.
